Spain

Updated: May 22, 2019

In the country of Spain, there is a cultural significance behind ear piercings. Since they don't put clothes that distinguish baby boys and baby girls, some people in Spain put ear piercings on girls so they can identify them as females. Since they don't put clothing on smaller children, having an earring can help easily separate the boys from the girls. They do this to girls when they are babies because they also believe that it is less painful for a human, to get them at a young age instead of as an older age. Not only has Spain practiced this, but as well as other Hispanic culture. Some may disagree, but some people in other Hispanic cultures still have done it and have passed the tradition on. This tradition can influence lots of parents to immediately pierce their children's ears.
